The traditional crafts of the Puinave communities in the Bachaco-Buenavista Reserve contain a large body of knowledge about raw materials and their uses, exclusively in the domestic context.

Artisans were from the first meeting clearly interested in linking their knowledge of crafts to touristic activities. There were plans to foster the handicrafts trade, in terms both of improving the quality of production and of achieving the internal organization required to trade their products in a sustainable and autonomous way.

Three types of crafts are present: pottery, woodcarving and vegetable fibre textiles. A group of artisans was formed, who contributed with their knowledge of traditional crafts and learned techniques to improve quality.
